Today to.."La Condesa"

Today i went to a very popular neighborhood in Mexico called "La Condesa", my main  purpose was to visit my favorite library "El Péndulo". I went there, stayed a while and then dedicated myself to walk around and sketch people (quick sketching). I found pretty interesting and valuable things for my sketches.  A lot of people walking their dogs and making interesting posses to me. I (like Ron Husband said) like to think the fact that my sketches are real people, not making poses for me, but doing what it is natural for them, and it happened, that i was there to capture it.

Top left: beginning my journey a man waits for the metro bus to arrive; Others: In "La Condesa" people walking in the park.

Another expedition..now to a Concert!!

Yesterday i went to a Opera concert in the "Conservatorio Nacional de Música", the music was amazing, i really enjoyed it. As it´s going to be usual, i brought my sketchbook with me, and i did some quick sketches from my experience; for my surprise i found that drawing the singer poses was extremely difficult, she was steady all the time but she moved her arms and hands in a very fluent way, so i couldn't catch that completely in my drawings (i will keep practicing). I also draw a guitarist arriving and a cello player. I hope you like it!!

This was a fat guy walking to get into the metro..

And all the sleepy people that i saw inside the metro..

Quick Sketching...

I´ve not written for a while, so i return today to show you some of the "quick sketching" i did yesterday while i was walking in "Paseo de la Reforma". It was very interesting for me to draw there because i had the possibility to see much more histories to put in my paper. People of all kind walk in Reforma, and as Ron Husband said, some of them are screaming, Sketch me!!
So here are some of the drawings that took place as i said in Reforma of people walking, also there are some of people taking pictures of "El Ángel" and others in the metrobus in my way back home. Hope you like it!.

Character

Most of my days i grab my sketchbook and start drawing characters that appear in my head, some of those i get them right and some not, but i really enjoy drawing them and  i always try to transmit a piece of their personality by just looking at them.
I drew this character thinking in a fat, rich and arrogant men that thinks he is a lot more valuable than anyone else. I hope you feel this too. Enjoy it!

Comic...

I´ve been wanting to draw a comic that i have on my mind since a while ago, this is one of the first pages, its not finished but i think its looking pretty good.

Second Hand Drawn Animation!!

This is my second hand drawn animation, it took me a while because i decided to do it in a more "planned" way this time. I did some research about stylish smoke, i draw some and then i did a couple of  "thumbnails" (an advise that the incredible Ron Husband gave to us back in creativa). I didn't do the animation at the time because i was a little bit scared to get it wrong; a few day ago i took courage and start animating, i noticed how doing the research and the thumbnails helped me to reach the look i wanted my animation to have. So here is the result. Hope you like it!!

Here are some photos from my Sketchbook of the research...

And one of the thumbnails that i did..

And finally….the animation!!! I really hope that you enjoy it!

Last Creativa Memory...

In Creativa there was a exhibition of the Tim Burton´s puppets, the ones that were used to create the incredible movies like "The corpse bride", "Frankenweenie", "Mars Attack" between others. I had the big opportunity to enter to the exhibition while the responsable of building this puppets was there, an amazing person and artist Ian Mackinnon. We had a little talk in which he gave me some advises of how to start. Later he gave a talk about his company (Mackinnon & Saunders) and how they did the puppets and what new technology implemented on them. It was just the best!.

More Creativa!!!

In creativa i also met the awesome Tony Cervone, the director of animation for the movie "Space Jam", currently working on the" Looney Toons". He and his pal Spike gave a talk about how to make funny an animation and in what aspects of the animation and its story we have to put attention in order to learn more about the toons we see and later implement them in our work.

CreativaFest 2014

Another great memory from CreativaFest 2014! the amazing producer Allison Abbate!! responsable for the films "Fantastic Mr. Fox", "Frankenweenie" and more recently "LEGO Movie".
She gave a talk about the challenges of being an animation producer, about how she started in the business and some of her personal stories about her involvement in the movies. I specially remember what she said about "Fantastic Mr. Fox", a stop motion movie that has one or two special effects, everything else is hand made. I enjoyed and listened very carefully whats she had to said to us, and from it, learned a lot. Thanks!

CreativaFest 2014

Look who i met in the awesome CreativaFest 2014!! A great person an awesome artist and a visual development artist in  Walt Disney Animation Studios, Armand Serrano!!! Thank you very much for the knowledge you gave to us!!.

Color First Attempt

I downloaded this image in black and withe and did the color for it, my goal was to color it the best i could (i am not used tho color my drawings) and i think that for being my first attempt it is pretty good.

"Impossible Love"

I did this image using Photoshop, my idea was to communicate what a "Impossible Love" looks to me in the most melancholy but sweet way i could think of at the moment.

My first hand drawn animation

This was my first hand drawn animation, it is very quick, but i was really excited when i did it. Hope you like it.

A mini Stop Motion

A Stop Motion made to try new things, some were accomplished and some not, but i hope you like it!.

Quick animation

A little animation i did using the "animation desk" app while i watched a movie.
